Sara Krin speaks on her Techno journey
Spanish DJ Sara Krin talks about how she became a DJ and what fans can expect from her in the near future.
Sara Krin is a techno DJ located in Barcelona, Spain. Her musical adventure began at a young age, with her taking music classes for several years before obtaining her own production equipment in her teens.
In 2014, she studied musical production to expand her knowledge of building instrumentals in the hopes that one day her ambition of being a DJ would come true.
Fast forward to 2019, Krin has been touring across Europe, from playing at different cities in Spain to performing at Munster, Germany.
Recently, Krin took her techno sound further by playing at several large venues in Colombia – expanding her musical reach to South America.
I reached out to Sara Krin to discover more about her story.
DM: What did you learn most from your music lessons at an early age?
SK: From a very young age my interest in music began. At age 9, I was passionate, and my parents enrolled me in music and piano lessons. I have never left it since my interest has always been active. Thanks to that, when I studied a production course, everything was easier with me. I knew what my teachers were talking about and that musical knowledge has made it very easy for me to produce my own tracks.
DM: Who are some of the producers and DJs that inspire you?
SK: Part of our job is being in our studio either producing or especially listening to music. When I listen to a track I love, I always look for more productions about this artist. Right now, I could tell you that I really like Omis productions. He is an artist supported by many well-known artists who are making a beastly sound and when I try them in the cabin, a good reaction is received from the public. I also like Alignment, Cristian Varela since his beginnings, and many others.
DM: How would you best describe the techno music genre and your style of techno that you produce?
SK: The music that describes my sessions is a blunt Techno with hard and melodic bases. I like to look at the public and observe their reactions. I love interacting with them and having fun just as much as me or more. It's a satisfaction when this is achieved because of that, my sessions depend on the public without leaving my line.
As for my productions, after my time in Colombia this year, it helped me a lot to find my sound. That's why when I returned from that tour, I locked myself in my studio and made my last EP 'Resistance'. With this EP you can see a change in my productions that will keep going with the same line. Dark and industrial sounds and powerful rising line. This EP is already in all music platforms where you can enjoy these two bombs 'Resistance' and 'Nothing to hide'.
DM: Where are some of your favourite locations to perform at?
SK: One of the places where I would love to perform is in Printworks in London. I think it's an amazing place, very different from others and a brutal staging by our partners, the lighting technicians. Speaking about London, I'm always looking at the EGG London Club and the public is very energetic. I love that place. I wish I could come very soon and be able to enjoy Londoners.
DM: Are there any upcoming projects that people can expect to hear from you?
SK: Yes, as I said, I am very focused on my production and my new EP 'Resistance' has just come out this Friday 13.12.2019 with the Spartaque label 'IAMT' and my next EP is ready. I just can't stop producing and a new I'm preparing a new EP. I'll announce more information regarding that soon. About my next performances, next year will be full of surprises that I can't say now, and I am delighted because every time I get closer to many people from all over the world so please, stay tuned and be attentive!
